Pembrokeshire has plenty of beaches where dogs can visit throughout the year, including Barafundle Bay, Broad Haven South, Abereiddi and Nolton Haven. Others operate seasonal restrictions between 1 May and 30 September.

Tenby North Beach and Whitesands at St Davids have full seasonal dog bans during this period. Beaches including Saundersfoot, Broad Haven North, Newgale, Amroth and Poppit Sands have partial restrictions, so there are still areas where dogs can be taken.

From Tenby and Saundersfoot to Broad Haven

South Pembrokeshire gives you several popular seaside towns within a relatively small area. Our Tenby dog-friendly cottages put you close to several beaches as well as the harbour and coast path. The rules differ between Tenby’s beaches, so check the restrictions for the particular beach you plan to use.

Nearby Saundersfoot dog-friendly cottages provide another choice, with a dog-friendly section of the beach available when the summer restrictions are operating. You can also join the coast path for walks towards Tenby or north towards Wiseman’s Bridge and Amroth.

Further around the coast, Broad Haven dog-friendly cottages are close to St Brides Bay. Broad Haven North has a partial summer restriction rather than a complete ban, while nearby Broad Haven South welcomes dogs throughout the year.

Take Your Dog Along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path runs for 186 miles, but there is no need to tackle long sections to make use of it. Shorter walks can be found from towns and villages throughout the county, often linking beaches that have different dog restrictions.

Dogs are welcome on the path but need to be kept under close control. Many sections pass through farmland, and there are also cliff edges and important wildlife habitats along the route. The National Park advises keeping dogs on leads near livestock and preventing them from approaching or chasing birds and other wildlife.

This makes the coast path particularly handy during the summer. If the nearest beach has a dog restriction, you may still have a coastal walk directly from the same town or village.
