Our Pembrokeshire Holiday Cottages by the Sea
Pembrokeshire has one of the most varied coastlines in Wales, with sandy beaches, small fishing villages, sheltered harbours and dramatic cliffs. Our collection of Pembrokeshire cottages by the sea includes coastal cottages near places such as Tenby, Saundersfoot and Broad Haven, as well as sea view cottages overlooking quieter stretches of the coast. You’ll also find beach cottages within walking distance of the sand and holiday homes in villages throughout the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
The Pembrokeshire Coast Path runs for 186 miles around much of the county, passing beaches, headlands, coves and historic settlements along the way. Other places worth visiting include St Davids, Britain’s smallest city, the harbour village of Solva and the historic town of Pembroke, home to Pembroke Castle. Boat trips also run to islands including Skomer, which is particularly well known for its puffins and other seabirds.
Types of Beach Holidays in Pembrokeshire
Pembrokeshire has accommodation for everything from a weekend for two to a holiday with several generations of the family. Smaller cottages and apartments can be found in coastal towns and villages, while larger houses provide extra bedrooms, living space and gardens for families travelling together.
For holidays with more people, our group accommodation includes properties sleeping eight or more. There is also a dedicated collection of Pembrokeshire pet friendly cottages for visitors bringing their dog, with hundreds of miles of coast path and plenty of beaches nearby.
For something extra, Pembrokeshire hot tub lodges include properties with private hot tubs close to the coast. Other features available across the collection include sea views, private parking, enclosed gardens, balconies and direct or nearby access to the beach.
Top 10 Beaches in Pembrokeshire
Pembrokeshire has more than 50 beaches, ranging from large stretches of sand to small coves reached on foot. The official Pembrokeshire visitor guide has further information about the county and its coastline.
Barafundle Bay is a sandy beach backed by dunes and woodland on the Stackpole Estate. There is no road access to the beach, with visitors reaching it on foot from Stackpole Quay.
Freshwater West is a large Atlantic-facing beach known for its surf and extensive sand dunes. It has also been used as a filming location for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Tenby South Beach stretches for around a mile and a half, with views towards Caldey Island. Its size gives visitors plenty of room even during the busier summer months.
Whitesands Bay, close to St Davids, is a wide sandy beach overlooked by Carn Llidi. It is popular with surfers and is also easily reached from the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.
Broad Haven has a large sandy beach backed by the village, with cafés and other facilities close to the seafront. At low tide it is possible to walk along the sand towards neighbouring Little Haven.
Newgale Beach extends for almost two miles and is backed by a large pebble bank. Its exposed position makes it popular for surfing, windsurfing and other watersports.
Saundersfoot Beach is a broad sandy beach next to the village and harbour. Shops, cafés and restaurants are within a short walk, making it one of the more convenient beaches for families.
Porthmelgan Beach is a much quieter sandy cove near St Davids. It is reached on foot from the coast path and has no facilities, making it very different from the county’s larger resort beaches.
Marloes Sands has a dramatic setting beneath cliffs on the western Pembrokeshire coast. The beach is reached by a walk from the National Trust car park at Marloes Mere.
Church Doors Cove, near Manorbier, takes its name from the large arched opening in the cliffs. Access is by steps from the coast path, and at low tide visitors can continue around the rocks to neighbouring Skrinkle Haven.
