The Pembrokeshire Coast Path also passes through the area, giving you plenty of choice when you want to head further along the coast.

Dog Friendly Holidays in Saundersfoot

Saundersfoot Beach is wide and sandy, with the harbour, cafés, pubs and restaurants close by. From 1 May to 30 September, dogs are excluded from most of the beach, although a small section at the Coppet Hall end remains available. Outside this period, the seasonal restriction is lifted.

Coppet Hall gives you another choice just along the coast. Current rules allow dogs on the section from the central steps back towards Saundersfoot. On the northern part of Coppet Hall Beach, dogs are excluded between 10am and 5pm from 1 May to 30 September. This is a change from the broader voluntary summer restriction described in some older information, so it is worth following the current signs when you arrive.

Walk from Saundersfoot to Wiseman’s Bridge

One of the most convenient local walks follows the old tramway from Saundersfoot towards Coppet Hall and Wiseman’s Bridge. The route passes through old railway tunnels and follows the coast without requiring a long drive to reach the starting point.

At very low tide it is also possible to walk along the beach between Saundersfoot and Wiseman’s Bridge, although checking the tide times is important because the incoming tide can cut off sections of the shoreline. The coast path provides an alternative route when conditions on the beach are unsuitable.

From Wiseman’s Bridge you can continue towards Amroth or head inland through Pleasant Valley. A 3.5-mile circular route around Wiseman’s Bridge and Pleasant Valley combines coast, woodland, fields and the former colliery railway.

Longer Walks on the Pembrokeshire Coast

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path gives you plenty more scope for walking beyond Saundersfoot. Dogs are welcome on the trail but should be kept under close control, particularly around livestock, wildlife and cliff edges.

You can head west from Saundersfoot towards Tenby or continue east through Wiseman’s Bridge towards Amroth. This means you can choose anything from a short walk around the village to a longer day along the coast.
