Dog Friendly Cottages in North Wales by the Sea

Choose from 828 dog friendly holiday homes in North Wales

North Wales has hundreds of miles of coastline to explore with your dog, from the beaches of Anglesey to the Llŷn Peninsula and Cardigan Bay. Our North Wales dog friendly cottages include stays near sandy beaches, coastal villages and sections of the Wales Coast Path. Some of the busiest beaches have seasonal dog restrictions, but these often apply to designated sections rather than the entire coastline. With Anglesey, Abersoch, Porthmadog and many smaller coastal communities to choose from, there are plenty of places to base a holiday with your dog.

Dog Friendly Holidays in North Wales

The North Wales coast varies considerably from one area to another. You can stay near long sandy beaches, choose a cottage in a small coastal village or use one of the larger towns as a base for exploring several different parts of the coast.

Anglesey is particularly popular for dog-friendly breaks, with beaches and walking routes spread around the island. Restrictions apply to designated areas at seven beaches between 1 May and 30 September, including Benllech, Trearddur Bay, Cemaes Bay and Llanddwyn. Importantly, dogs can still use other areas of these beaches during the restriction period.

Our Anglesey dog friendly cottages give you a choice of places to stay around the island, with the Wales Coast Path providing plenty of alternatives when you want a longer walk away from the beach.

Abersoch and the Llŷn Peninsula with Your Dog

The Llŷn Peninsula gives you another large stretch of coastline to explore. Abersoch has two sandy beaches and easy access to coastal walking routes around the southern side of the peninsula.

Dogs are excluded from the northern section of Abersoch’s main beach between 1 April and 30 September, rather than from the entire beach. Staying in one of our Abersoch dog friendly cottages also puts you within reach of other beaches around the peninsula, so you don’t need to rely on the main village beach for every walk.

Further around the Llŷn Peninsula are places such as Porthdinllaen, Nefyn and Aberdaron, while the Wales Coast Path links many of the beaches and coastal villages. Restrictions vary between individual beaches, so check the signs locally during the spring and summer.

Porthmadog, Black Rock Sands and the Coast

Porthmadog is a useful base if you want to combine coastal walks with trips to several different beaches. Morfa Bychan and Black Rock Sands are only a few miles away, while Borth-y-Gest has small sandy coves and paths around the Glaslyn and Dwyryd estuaries.

At Morfa Bychan, a designated section of beach is subject to a seasonal dog restriction. Other parts of the large beach remain available to dogs, making it possible to visit even during the summer restriction period.

Our Porthmadog dog friendly cottages are also well placed for exploring Criccieth, Harlech and the wider Eryri coast. This gives you plenty of choice if you want to alternate beach walks with longer routes along the Wales Coast Path.

Wherever you stay, keep dogs under close control around livestock and wildlife and follow local signs around protected areas. For an even wider choice of coastal stays, browse our Wales dog friendly beach cottages.
