Dog Friendly Cottages in West Wales by the Sea

Choose from 471 dog friendly holiday homes in West Wales

West Wales gives you miles of coastline to explore with your dog, from the sandy beaches of Cardigan Bay to smaller coves and harbour towns. Our West Wales dog friendly cottages include stays near beaches, coastal villages and sections of the Wales Coast Path, giving you plenty of choice for daily walks. Some of the main bathing beaches have seasonal dog restrictions, but these often apply to specific sections rather than the entire beach. There are also plenty of places where dogs are welcome throughout the year.

Dog Friendly Holidays on the West Wales Coast

West Wales gives you a wide choice of places to stay with your dog, from the beaches and small coastal towns around Cardigan Bay to the longer sandy bays of Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire. Beach rules vary considerably, so it is worth checking the restrictions for the particular part of the coast you are visiting.

Ceredigion has plenty of choices around New Quay, Aberporth and Llangrannog. Some popular bathing beaches have restricted sections between 1 May and 30 September, while other nearby beaches remain open to dogs throughout the year.

Further south, Pembrokeshire has more than 50 beaches and the majority welcome dogs all year. Seasonal restrictions apply to a smaller number of popular beaches between 1 May and 30 September.

Tenby and Saundersfoot with Your Dog

Tenby is a useful base if you want beaches, coastal walks and plenty of places to eat within a small area. During the summer, dogs are excluded from North Beach and Harbour Beach, while restrictions also apply to parts of Castle Beach and South Beach. If you want to stay close to the town while exploring this part of the Pembrokeshire coast, our Tenby dog friendly cottages include a range of properties suitable for holidays with your dog.

Saundersfoot is only a few miles along the coast and has a wide sandy beach beside the harbour. Seasonal dog restrictions apply to most of the main beach from 1 May to 30 September, but there are other places nearby where you can walk along the coast with your dog. Our Saundersfoot dog friendly cottages are well placed for exploring the village, surrounding beaches and nearby sections of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.

Beaches and Coastal Walks Across West Wales

There are plenty of alternatives if you want to spend more time away from the busier resort beaches. Pembrokeshire has year-round dog-friendly beaches as well as the 186-mile Pembrokeshire Coast Path, so Tenby and Saundersfoot are only a small part of what you can explore with your dog.

Further north, the Ceredigion section of the Wales Coast Path connects places such as Cardigan, Aberporth, Llangrannog and New Quay. You can choose short walks between neighbouring beaches or tackle longer sections along the cliffs.

Carmarthenshire adds another type of coastline again. Cefn Sidan has around eight miles of sand, and although dogs are excluded from the main mile between May and September, roughly seven miles remain available for dog walking.

With beaches, harbour towns and long sections of coast path to choose from, West Wales gives you plenty of scope to find a different walk each day.
