Rhosneigr is a seaside village on the west coast of Anglesey, with two large sandy beaches and plenty of places to eat and shop close to the shore. Llyn Maelog and Traeth Llydan

Llyn Maelog sits immediately behind the southern side of Rhosneigr. The natural lake covers around 26 hectares and is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, with a variety of birdlife found around its shores.

An easy circular walk of around 2.2 miles follows the edge of the lake before joining Traeth Llydan for a walk along the sand. Parts of the lakeside path can be rocky or muddy, but much of the route is flat.

This gives you a simple alternative to a longer coastal walk and combines two of Rhosneigr’s main features in a single route.

Walk the Anglesey Coast from Rhosneigr

The Anglesey Coastal Path passes directly through Rhosneigr. Heading south, the route crosses Traeth Llydan before continuing through the dunes and along the coast towards Aberffraw. In the other direction, it follows the River Crigyll before reaching Traeth Cymyran and the coastline beside RAF Valley.

You can follow a short section and return to Rhosneigr rather than completing a full stage. The complete Anglesey Coastal Path runs for around 130 miles, with 95% of the island’s coastline lying within the designated National Landscape.
