Port Isaac Cottages by the Sea

Choose from 69 self-catering holiday homes in Port Isaac

Port Isaac is a historic fishing village on the North Cornwall coast, with narrow streets running down to a small working harbour. Our Port Isaac cottages by the sea put you close to the waterfront, local restaurants and the South West Coast Path, with neighbouring Port Gaverne just around the headland. The village is also well known as the filming location for Doc Martin, where it appeared as the fictional Port Wenn. Follow the coast towards Port Quin for a more challenging walk, or spend the day exploring nearby coves and villages around this part of North Cornwall.

Port Gaverne and the Coast Around Port Isaac

Port Gaverne is a short walk from Port Isaac and provides a very different setting from the main harbour. The narrow cove was once used for fishing and for landing slate and coal, but today its sheltered beach is popular for rock pooling. A good area of sand is exposed when the tide is out.

The South West Coast Path passes through both places. The surrounding coastline is steep, so even relatively short walks can involve plenty of climbing and steps. Walkers arriving from Tintagel, for example, face a challenging 9.1-mile route before reaching Port Gaverne and Port Isaac.

Walk from Port Isaac to Port Quin

Heading west from Port Isaac takes you onto one of the more demanding stretches of the Coast Path. The route climbs and drops around the headlands before reaching the small cove at Port Quin, with views across Port Quin Bay along the way.

A circular walk between Port Isaac and Port Quin is around five miles, but the steep climbs and numerous steps make it tougher than the distance suggests. At Port Quin you can see the old pilchard cellars and remains of former cottages, while Doyden Castle stands on the headland nearby. Further along the coast are Polzeath and the Camel Estuary, while Tintagel lies in the opposite direction.
