Tintagel Cottages by the Sea

Choose from 53 self-catering holiday homes in Tintagel

Tintagel stands on one of the most dramatic sections of the North Cornwall coast, with its famous castle ruins occupying the headland above the sea. Our Tintagel cottages by the sea put you close to the village, South West Coast Path and miles of rugged coastline. Visit Tintagel Castle, walk out across Barras Nose or head south towards Trebarwith Strand, where a large sandy beach appears at low tide. Boscastle is also nearby, while the coast between the two villages includes Rocky Valley and several quieter clifftop walks.

Coastal Cottages and Sea Views in Tintagel

The elevated coastline around Tintagel means some holiday cottages have views towards the Atlantic. Other properties are set around the village or surrounding countryside, providing a coastal base without being directly beside the sea.

This variety gives you a choice between staying close to local amenities or choosing somewhere with more space around it. For more accommodation along the county’s coastline, see our collection of Cornish cottages on the coast.

Tintagel Castle and Barras Nose

Tintagel Castle combines the remains of a 13th-century castle with evidence of a much earlier settlement on the headland. Its later association with the stories of King Arthur has become a major part of Tintagel’s history, although the connection originates in medieval literature rather than established evidence that Arthur lived here. Today, a footbridge connects the mainland with the castle ruins on the island.

Immediately north of the castle is Barras Nose, a National Trust headland with views back towards Tintagel Island and along the coast. A one-mile National Trust walk explores the headland, while longer routes continue towards Bossiney and Rocky Valley.

Walk the Coast towards Trebarwith and Boscastle

South of Tintagel, the Coast Path crosses an exposed stretch of cliffs towards Trebarwith Strand. An established circular walk from Tintagel Castle takes in the beach before returning through Treknow and past St Materiana’s Church. The complete route is around 4.6 miles.

Head north instead and you can follow the coast towards Bossiney and Rocky Valley before continuing to Boscastle. This section passes former slate-quarrying areas as well as high cliffs and small valleys, and some parts of the path are strenuous. Tintagel is also well placed for seeing more of North Cornwall, with Boscastle, Port Isaac and several beaches within driving distance.
