Beaumaris is a good choice if you want to combine a coastal town with walks around the eastern side of Anglesey. Our Beaumaris dog friendly cottages put you close to the seafront and the Anglesey Coastal Path, with routes leading towards Penmon or south along the Menai Strait. A seasonal restriction applies to part of Beaumaris Beach from May to September, but dogs can still use other areas of the beach. There are also plenty of longer walks nearby when you want to explore beyond the town.

Dog Friendly Holidays in Beaumaris

Dogs are excluded from a designated section of Beaumaris Beach from 1 May to 30 September each year. The restriction does not cover the whole beach, so there is still an area where you can take your dog during the summer. Signs at the beach show the section covered by the restriction.

Outside these months, the seasonal restriction is lifted. Beaumaris also has a long seafront overlooking the Menai Strait, while the Anglesey Coastal Path passes through the town and gives you several choices for longer walks.

Follow the Coast towards Penmon

Head north-east from Beaumaris and the coastal path eventually leads towards Penmon, passing fields, woodland and sections of shoreline along the way. The full Pentraeth to Beaumaris stage is around 12.4 miles, so it is easy to use Beaumaris as the starting point for a much shorter walk rather than completing an entire section.

Penmon is one of the highlights of this side of Anglesey. The coastal path passes Penmon Church and Priory before continuing towards the headland, with views towards Puffin Island. This is an important area for seabirds and waders, so dogs should be kept under close control around wildlife.

Walk Along the Menai Strait

For a different route, follow the Anglesey Coastal Path south from Beaumaris. The path leaves the town along the seafront before continuing through countryside beside the Menai Strait. The complete Beaumaris to Moel y Don section is around 11.2 miles and is classed as challenging, but you can turn back at any point for a shorter walk.

This route gives you a change from walking on the beach and can be particularly handy during the summer restriction period. Parts of the coastal path cross fields and farmland, so dogs should be kept under close control around livestock and gates should always be left as you find them.
