Beach Cottages and Sea Views in Bamburgh

Cottages around Bamburgh range from properties close to the village to holiday homes in the surrounding coastal countryside. Some offer sea views, while others provide easy access to the coast from a more rural setting.

Bamburgh Beach is a wide stretch of sand backed by dunes, with the castle overlooking the shoreline from its rocky position above the coast. From the beach there are also views across the North Sea towards the Farne Islands and Holy Island.

The beach continues south towards Seahouses, giving you plenty of room for a walk beside the sea. The route between Bamburgh and Seahouses is around three miles each way and can largely be followed along the sand.

Bamburgh Castle and the Village

Bamburgh Castle is the village’s main landmark and has occupied its coastal position for centuries. The castle is open to visitors, with state rooms, collections and exhibitions covering its long history. Its grounds also look out across the beach and Northumberland coastline.

In the village, RNLI Grace Darling Museum tells the story of Grace Darling and the 1838 rescue that made her one of the best-known figures in RNLI history. St Aidan’s Church and the Grace Darling memorial are also nearby.

Bamburgh itself is compact, with cafés, pubs and restaurants around the centre, so many of the main places to visit can be reached on foot.
