Bacton Beach and Nearby Bays

Bacton Beach is a long stretch of sand backed by low cliffs and sea defences. Wooden groynes divide parts of the shoreline, and the beach is particularly good for walking when the tide is out. At high tide, some sections of sand can become inaccessible.

Coastal Walks and Bacton Woods

The England Coast Path passes through Bacton, with walking routes towards Mundesley and Walcott. The coastline is also part of Norfolk’s Deep History Coast, where fossils and ancient footprints have been discovered at several locations.

Inland, Bacton Woods has woodland trails through mixed trees and open clearings. The Paston Way also passes through the area, linking villages, churches and historic sites between Cromer and North Walsham.

Exploring the Norfolk Broads

Bacton is within easy reach of the northern Norfolk Broads, including the waterways around Stalham and Hickling Broad. Visitors can hire boats, take wildlife trips or explore the villages around the Broads.

Cromer and Sheringham are also within driving distance, offering traditional seaside attractions, beaches and independent shops. For more places to stay along the coast, browse our Norfolk beach cottages.
