The town has shops, cafés and pubs, while nearby Bull Bay and Cemaes Bay offer access to beaches and coastal walking routes.

Amlwch Port, Bull Bay and Coastal Walks

Amlwch Port, also known as Porth Amlwch, is a sheltered harbour surrounded by steep rocky cliffs. During the 18th and 19th centuries, it was an important port for exporting copper from the nearby Parys Mountain mines. Today, fishing boats still use the harbour.

The Anglesey Coast Path follows the cliffs around Amlwch, with walks towards Point Lynas and its historic lighthouse. The route passes small coves, rocky headlands and coastal viewpoints.

Further west, Bull Bay has a sheltered rocky beach, rock pools and views across the Irish Sea. Visitors looking to stay nearby can find Bull Bay holiday cottages.

Parys Mountain, Cemaes Bay and Nearby Attractions

Parys Mountain lies a few miles inland from Amlwch and is known for its unusual red, orange and purple landscape. Visitors can follow marked trails through the former copper-mining area and see the remains of historic mine buildings.

Amlwch town centre has independent shops, cafés and traditional pubs. The surrounding area also has several historic churches and reminders of the town’s industrial past.

Further west, Cemaes Bay has two beaches, a small fishing harbour and cafés close to the waterfront. Our beach cottages in Cemaes Bay provide another option along Anglesey’s northern coastline.
