Walk the Llŷn Peninsula from Abersoch

The Wales Coast Path passes through Abersoch and provides plenty of choices for exploring the peninsula on foot. Head north and you can follow the coastline towards Llanbedrog, passing beaches and headlands along the way.

South of the village, the path continues through Machroes and around the coast towards Porth Ceiriad. Longer routes eventually reach Porth Neigwl, better known as Hell’s Mouth, a wide bay on the western side of the peninsula.

You don’t need to tackle an entire section of the Coast Path. Shorter walks around Abersoch and the neighbouring headlands still give you plenty of views across Cardigan Bay.

Beaches and Places to Visit Near Abersoch

Llanbedrog is one of the easiest nearby places to visit, with its sandy beach and wooded headland. From the village, paths climb through the woodland towards Mynydd Tir-y-Cwmwd, where there are views along the coast and across Cardigan Bay.

Further west, you can explore more of the Llŷn Peninsula around Pwllheli, Nefyn and Aberdaron. Pwllheli has a marina, shops and beaches, while the smaller villages and coves further along the peninsula give you plenty of choices for days away from Abersoch.
