The village has two well-known pubs, The Anchor and The Bell Inn, along with a small selection of shops and cafés. St Andrew’s Church stands just outside the main village centre, with the ruins of an earlier medieval church beside it.

Southwold is directly across the River Blyth and can be reached using the traditional rowing-boat ferry during its operating season. You can also walk or drive inland to cross the river by bridge.

Walberswick Beach is a wide stretch of sand and shingle backed by dunes. Unlike Southwold, there is no promenade or pier, although the village’s pubs and cafés are within walking distance.

The beach extends south towards Dunwich, with coastal paths passing through heathland, marshes and nature reserves. Walking north takes you towards the mouth of the River Blyth, where you can watch fishing boats entering and leaving Southwold Harbour.

Walberswick Nature Reserve covers an extensive area of reedbeds, marshes and heathland behind the coast. The footpaths provide opportunities to spot birds and other wildlife, particularly around the wetlands.
