Choose from 60 self-catering holiday homes in Mawgan Porth

Mawgan Porth is a small coastal village between Newquay and Padstow, with a sandy beach surrounded by high cliffs. Our Mawgan Porth cottages by the sea put you close to the beach and South West Coast Path, with shops, places to eat and surf facilities around the village. Follow the coast north for views across Bedruthan Steps or walk south towards Watergate Bay. There are also routes inland through the valley to St Mawgan, giving you a very different walk without travelling far from the coast.

Beach Cottages and Sea Views in Mawgan Porth

Staying within easy reach of the coast is one of the main advantages of choosing a cottage in Mawgan Porth. Properties are available around the village and surrounding area, with some holiday homes offering sea views.

Some cottages are particularly close to the shore, while others are set further back and may offer more space. For a wider choice around the county, browse all of our Cornwall beach cottages.

Walk the Coast towards Bedruthan Steps

One of the main reasons to stay in Mawgan Porth is the stretch of coastline immediately to the north. The South West Coast Path climbs away from the village and continues towards Carnewas at Bedruthan, where a series of large rock stacks rise from the beach below.

The beach at Bedruthan Steps itself remains inaccessible following rock falls that damaged the staircase, but the clifftop paths and viewpoints remain open. From here, the Coast Path continues towards Porthcothan. The complete Porthcothan to Mawgan Porth section is around 4.5 miles and is graded as a moderate walk, with some steep ascents and descents.

St Mawgan, Watergate Bay and Newquay

You don’t have to follow the coast for every walk. A route from Mawgan Porth heads inland beside the stream and through fields and woodland to St Mawgan. The South West Coast Path’s circular route through St Mawgan is about 5.4 miles, returning to the coast before reaching Mawgan Porth again.

Heading south instead brings you to Watergate Bay, another large sandy beach with places to eat beside the shore. Continue along the coast and you eventually reach Porth and Newquay, giving you plenty more beaches to explore during your stay.
