Llandudno is a large seaside town on the North Wales coast, set between the Great Orme and Little Orme. North Shore has the town’s long promenade and Victorian pier, while West Shore provides a quieter stretch of sand on the other side of the town. Away from the beaches, you can explore the Great Orme, visit the town’s shops and restaurants or follow the Wales Coast Path around the headlands. Conwy, Colwyn Bay and the mountains of Eryri are also within easy reach.

Sea View and Coastal Holidays in Llandudno

Staying close to the coast in Llandudno gives you a choice of holiday cottages around the town and seafront. Some properties offer sea views, while others are within walking distance of the shore and the shops and restaurants in the centre.

Explore the Great Orme

The Great Orme rises above the western side of Llandudno and is one of the town’s main attractions. You can walk to the summit or travel up on the Great Orme Tramway, which has been operating since 1902. The Great Orme Copper Mines provide another reason to visit, with underground workings dating back thousands of years.

Marine Drive also follows a five-mile route around the headland, starting close to the pier and eventually reaching West Shore. Along the way there are views towards Anglesey and Eryri, with several places where you can stop and explore on foot.

 

Coastal Walks and Places to Visit Near Llandudno

The Wales Coast Path runs through Llandudno and crosses both the Great Orme and Little Orme. Head east and you can follow the coast towards Rhos-on-Sea and Colwyn Bay. In the opposite direction, the route continues towards the Conwy Estuary and the historic town of Conwy.

Conwy is an easy trip from Llandudno and is home to Conwy Castle, the medieval town walls and the quay. Further inland, the landscape changes quickly as you approach Eryri National Park, giving you access to mountain walks and other places to visit away from the coast.
