Hope Cove is a small seaside village in South Devon, known for its two sandy beaches, traditional cottages and sheltered harbour. Located between Salcombe and Thurlestone, the village has waterfront pubs, cafés and coastal paths with views across Bigbury Bay. Discover Hope Cove’s Beaches, Harbour and Coastal Scenery

Hope Cove is a traditional fishing village with two sandy beaches, a small harbour and a selection of pubs and cafés. Its beach cottages and coastal holiday homes include properties close to the waterfront, with some offering views across the bay. The village is divided into Inner Hope and Outer Hope, both connected by a short walk along the seafront.

 

Hope Cove Beaches, Rock Pools and Coastal Walks

Hope Cove has two main beaches: Harbour Beach at Inner Hope and Mouthwell Sands at Outer Hope. Both have sandy areas and rock pools, while Mouthwell Sands has seasonal lifeguard cover. The village has public toilets, parking and places to eat close to the beaches.

The South West Coast Path passes through Hope Cove, with walks south towards Bolt Tail and Soar Mill Cove. Heading north, the path leads towards South Milton Sands and Thurlestone, where visitors can see the distinctive Thurlestone Rock just offshore.

Hope Cove Village, Salcombe and Nearby Attractions

Hope Cove has a small fishing harbour, traditional thatched cottages and several pubs and restaurants. The village also has a history of smuggling and shipwrecks, with its sheltered bay providing protection from the Atlantic.
