Dog Friendly Cottages in Bude by the Sea

Choose from 66 dog friendly holiday homes in Bude

Bude gives dog owners a particularly wide choice of beaches. Summerleaze welcomes dogs throughout the year, while Northcott Mouth, Sandymouth, Duckpool, Black Rock and Millook currently have no seasonal dog bans. Our Bude dog-friendly cottages range from smaller properties for couples to larger holiday homes, with stays available close to the town and surrounding North Cornwall coast. Selected cottages have enclosed gardens, private outside space or accept multiple dogs, while others put you within walking distance of a beach or the South West Coast Path.

Beaches You Can Visit with Your Dog Around Bude

Summerleaze is particularly convenient because it is beside the town centre and dogs are allowed throughout the year. From 21 May to 30 September, they must be kept on a lead between 10am and 6pm, rather than being excluded from the beach. The beach has a large car park, toilets, café, beach huts and Bude Sea Pool.

For unrestricted beach access, head further along the coast. Northcott Mouth and Sandymouth to the north are currently dog friendly throughout the year. Black Rock, immediately south of the main section of Widemouth Bay, is another year-round choice.

That gives you several alternatives during the summer without having to travel far from Bude.

Crooklets and Widemouth Have Different Rules

Crooklets and the main beach at Widemouth Bay have stricter summer rules. Dogs are prohibited between 10am and 6pm from 15 May to 30 September at both beaches. Outside those hours, dogs can use the beaches.

The distinction between Widemouth Bay and Black Rock is worth knowing. Although the main Widemouth beach has the seasonal restriction, Visit Bude lists Black Rock, on its southern side, among the beaches that welcome dogs throughout the year.

Follow the Coast Path North or South

The South West Coast Path passes through Bude, so you don’t need to rely entirely on beach walks. From the town you can follow the coast north past Crooklets towards Northcott Mouth and Sandymouth, giving you the chance to combine several beaches on the same walk.

Head south and the coast path continues towards Widemouth Bay and Millook. This stretch becomes more demanding, with steep climbs and descents, so the distance alone doesn’t give a complete picture of the walk.
