Branscombe’s Thatched Village, Beach and Jurassic Coast

Branscombe lies in a wooded valley leading down to the sea, with traditional thatched cottages, historic buildings and countryside walks. Its coastal holiday homes offer accommodation close to the village and surrounding coastline, with some properties enjoying sea views. The village has two traditional pubs, while Branscombe Mouth provides access to a long pebble beach backed by steep cliffs.

Branscombe Beach and Coastal Walks to Beer

Branscombe Mouth is a long shingle beach with rock pools exposed at low tide. There is a beachside restaurant, parking and public toilets, although the beach has no lifeguard cover. A relatively level footpath connects the village with the shoreline, approximately 1.2 kilometres away.

The South West Coast Path follows the cliffs east towards Beer, with steep sections and views across Lyme Bay. Beer is a traditional fishing village where colourful boats are pulled onto the pebble beach. For visitors who would prefer to stay closer to this sheltered cove, we also have holiday cottages near Beer.

Historic Branscombe and Nearby Seaton

Branscombe has several historic buildings, including an 18th-century working forge, Manor Mill and the Old Bakery. Managed by the National Trust, these buildings provide an insight into the village’s history and traditional industries.

The surrounding valley has woodland paths and countryside walks, while nearby Seaton offers a longer seafront promenade, shops and restaurants. The town is also home to Seaton Tramway, which runs through the Axe Valley towards Colyton. Visitors looking for accommodation in a larger seaside town can find places to stay in Seaton.
