Barry Island is home to Whitmore Bay, a sandy beach with a promenade, cafés and traditional seaside attractions. Nearby Jackson’s Bay is smaller and generally quieter, while the Knap has a pebble beach and landscaped gardens.

Llantwit Major Beach, also known as Cwm Col-huw, has rock pools, parking and access to the Wales Coast Path. Further west, Dunraven Bay at Southerndown is known for its extensive rock formations and sandy areas at low tide. Ogmore-by-Sea is another popular beach, with rock pools and views across the Ogmore estuary.

Coastal Walks and Local Attractions

The Glamorgan Heritage Coast extends along the western part of the county, with clifftop paths linking beaches and villages. Nash Point Lighthouse is a well-known landmark, while the nearby coastal paths offer views across the Bristol Channel.
