Islands, Beaches and Coastal Towns

The islands add another dimension to this part of Scotland. Mull has beaches including Calgary Bay and Erraid Sands, while Tiree is known for beaches such as Gott Bay and Traigh Mhor.

On Bute, Rothesay is the main town and ferry port. Head around the island and you can visit Ettrick Bay, Scalpsie Bay and Kilchattan Bay. Ettrick Bay has around a mile of sand, while Scalpsie Bay is known for the seals that can often be seen from the shore.

Back on the mainland, Dunoon provides a base for exploring the Cowal Peninsula, while Campbeltown is the main town on Kintyre. This variety means you can choose between staying near a town or harbour and heading somewhere much quieter on the coast.
