Hayle Cottages by the Sea

Choose from 31 self-catering holiday homes in Hayle

Hayle sits on the edge of St Ives Bay, with a long sandy coastline, an estuary and a town centre shaped by its industrial past. To the north, the Towans stretch for around three miles towards Gwithian and Godrevy, while the harbour and estuary lie closer to the town. Hayle is also a good base for exploring St Ives Bay, with St Ives, Carbis Bay and Godrevy all within easy reach. The South West Coast Path passes through the area, giving you plenty of choice for walks beside the sea.

Hayle Towans, Gwithian and Godrevy

Hayle Towans forms the western end of a long stretch of golden sand that continues through Gwithian Towans towards Godrevy. At low tide, these beaches join to create one of the largest continuous stretches of sand in this part of Cornwall. The dunes behind the shore are among the most extensive in the county.

Gwithian is particularly popular with surfers and kitesurfers, while Godrevy lies at the eastern end of the bay opposite its well-known lighthouse. Grey seals can often be seen around the headland, particularly near Mutton Cove.

Hayle Estuary and Walks Around St Ives Bay

Hayle Estuary is an RSPB nature reserve, with tidal pools, saltmarsh and mudflats providing an important habitat for waders and other birds. Paths around the estuary give you a different view of Hayle away from the open coast.

You can also follow the South West Coast Path from Hayle towards Lelant and continue around the bay towards Carbis Bay and St Ives. If you would rather stay closer to the town at the other end of the bay, we have a large selection of St Ives cottages by the sea.
