You'll have a pub, a shop and a beach all within 300 metres for convenience during your stay. Set within a National Landscape in Cumbria, Allonby is blessed with breath-taking views across the Solway Firth to Scotland and the Isle of Man. Its crescent-shaped bay, with a sand and shingle beach full of shells to unturn, is popular for windsurfing and kite surfing. Wander through the village's narrow cobbled lanes, lined with grand Georgian architecture and quaint fishermen's cottages, or enjoy the spacious beach at low tide, perhaps strolling all the way to Maryport (5 miles). This pretty town boasts a harbour, an aquarium and museums, while Silloth (7.5 miles) is famed for its peaceful atmosphere and Turner-worthy sunsets. Cockermouth, Bassenthwaite and Keswick are all within 24 miles and are worth visiting.
