Located directly on the shoreline of the Solway Firth in the charming village of Powfoot, Pow-Wow Shore Cottage is a delightful late Victorian terrace offering breathtaking coastal views whatever the weather. This cozy dwelling which we have owned for the past 5 years, I use it as often as I can along with making it available to guests. The cottage has been beautifully finished with an eclectic blend of modern and Victorian styles. The property has recently undergone an update, including the installation of a new cooker and fridge freezer in the fully-equipped kitchen. There is also a handy utility room where you can freshen up your attire throughout your stay. Inside, the bright sitting room features a period fireplace with a rustic woodburning stove-the perfect spot to unwind and watch the sunset across the bay. The dining room offers a second restored fireplace with a warm electric log-effect fire and a Welsh dresser. while the first floor houses three immaculate bedrooms, two of which frame magnificent views of the coast. Whether you are looking for adventure or a peaceful retreat to watch the changing tides from the garden, Pow-Wow Shore Cottage provides an idyllic escape. Powfoot itself has much to offer including Powfoot Gardens where you will find pitch and putt and bowling, local walks, a golf course, small hotel providing delicious food (booking recommended) and drinks and of course long, long walks along the beach. A short journey from your doorstep will take you to the historic Royal Burgh of Annan (3.7 miles) where you’ll find a selection two supermarkets, amenities and attractions, including a range of traditional shops and delicious eateries, as well as a fascinating museum, a cinema showcasing the best of both independent and mainstream movies, a swimming pool, and a well-kept riverside park; a lovely spot to indulge in a picnic. Slightly further afield is the lively market town of Dumfries, where you can expect thrills at Dalscone Farm Fun, discover the local and prehistoric exhibits at the Dumfries Museum, marvel at the Scottish works of art on display at the Gracefield Arts Centre or tour the former home of famed poet, Robert Burns. The pint-sized parish of Gretna Green is within easy reach, world renowned for being a popular runaway wedding destination, with the Roman city of Carlisle slightly further afield across the border, perfect for a spot of retail therapy or sightseeing.
