Pack a bag and amble 0.5 miles down to the village's sandy beach, which is popular with surfers as well as swimmers. Porthtowan Beach (4.5 miles), with its dramatic cliffs, rock pools and tidal pool, is also worth spending an afternoon on. Pull on your walking boots and pop a few sandwiches in your backpack, before heading along the South West Coast Path to take in sweeping coastscapes. Plan a day trip to St Ives (17 miles), with its lovely beaches, shops and eateries. Visit the famous Tate St Ives and Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden while you are here.

Ponder for a moment or two to admire the remarkable vistas before entering this Cornish cottage via the porch. Hang coats and slip off your beach shoes or walking boots, then amble through to the inner hallway. The chic family bathroom, where you can choose between rinsing off the saltwater under the shower or treating yourself to a long bubble bath, is to the left. Make your way into the spacious kitchen/diner and find all the space you require to store your locally sourced products, as well as all the equipment and accessories you need to help you produce delicious dishes. Choose whether to dine in here or out in the sunshine on the deck. An inviting twin bedroom is located close to the kitchen. Wander through to the lounge to relax in comfort in front of the roaring wood burner. This chic space, with its interesting stone features, Smart TV and comfortable seating, is the perfect place to chat, play games and enjoy a movie together. Slide the doors to the conservatory back to enjoy a cup of tea as you gaze out towards the sea from here or from the deck beyond. Your two remaining bedrooms can be found from the inner hallway. These include a welcoming double and a superb king-size, which has an en-suite shower room and fabulous views.
