Fabulous Hawsker Holiday Let

A delightful, dog-friendly cottage for two, this intriguing Yorkshire bolthole was originally part of a train station. An annexe to the main building, but enjoying its privacy, it has been cleverly converted. Situated in the village of Hawsker, it sits within the glorious scenery of the North York Moors. Walkers and cyclists can pick up the Cinder Track from the property, and there is a bus stop directly outside for guests who would like to leave the car parked during their visit. Just 2.5 miles away is Saltwick Bay, where you can hunt for fossils. Pick up the Cleveland Way here and head out along the coast in either direction. While away afternoons in Whitby (2.5 miles), spending time on the sandy beach or climbing the 199 steps up to see the striking abbey ruins. The charming old fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay (3 miles) is another must during your stay. The property is located on the A171 between Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay.

As you step inside your red-brick retreat, head through to the open-plan lounge/diner, where you'll find old railway memorabilia, then settle in the comfortable armchair or sofa by the feature fireplace. Watch the Smart TV or have a cup of tea and a slice of freshly baked parkin at the table before you start to think about what to prepare for dinner. The cheery, modern kitchen adjoins the main living space and has been arranged with everything you are likely to need to help you cater for yourselves with your own ingredients during your Yorkshire break. There is also a shower room, with a WC, downstairs. As each day draws to a close, climb the stairs to your exquisitely finished, double bedroom and its splendid views. With an iron bed, wooden drawers and wardrobe, and a sage green feature wall, this tranquil room has been carefully designed to be in keeping with the age of the period building. It also includes a sofa where you can read quietly before bed. The bathroom, which is also at this level, has been decorated beautifully to tie in with the bedroom.

Carry morning coffee out to the patio in the enclosed, courtyard garden on fine summer days. Open a bottle of wine and cuddle up together on the benches in the wooden gazebo as night falls. There is private, off-road parking for one car.
