Exposed stone walls, a toasty wood burner, old wood panelling and original overhead beams all add to that homely atmosphere after long days wandering the coast. When the troops feel peckish, rustle up large feasts in the well-equipped kitchen/diner and tuck into your creations around the table. Find a WC, plus a washing machine and tumble dryer on this floor, too – perfect for running through those sandy towels. Make your way up to the first floor to a double bedroom and bathroom, while the second floor accommodates a twin bedroom with an intimate sloping ceiling. Wake up to mugs of freshly brewed coffee and savour it out in the small, enclosed yard, which is complete with a bistro table and chairs.

Take advantage of the many amenities of Whitby, including the shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, which are all less than half a mile away. Spend many happy hours admiring the sea view from the top of Whitby Abbey or hop aboard a sunset cruise to Ravenscar and keep your eyes peeled for seals and possibly the odd dolphin.
