Stairs lead from here to the first floor, where you'll find a double and a twin bedroom and a family bathroom. Guests have shared access to the original walled garden, which has outdoor furniture and is big enough for games on the lawn. Historic Mortehoe is home to pretty cottages, a 13th-century church, a museum and welcoming pubs. Work up a thirst with a walk on Morte Point and you might spot Atlantic grey seals basking on the rock. To the north, at Rockham Bay, you'll find a small, secluded beach with rock pools and plenty of sand to play on at low tide. South of the headland is the beach at Woolacombe (1.5 miles), its golden sands a safe place for sandcastles, swimming, surfing and sunbathing, while less than 6 miles away are the culinary and cultural delights of Ilfracombe’ don't miss the famous Tunnels Beaches, which turned this once-small fishing village into a favourite Victorian seaside resort.
