Tucked away within the ancient walls of Cardigan Castle, Gardener's Cottage is a romantic retreat – perfect for couples seeking an unforgettable stay. With sweeping views from the battlements and a storybook setting steeped in Welsh culture, this beautifully styled hideaway blends historic charm with modern comfort.

Step inside the elegant interior to find a toasty wood burner for those cosy evenings in, and a deep roll-top bath that's perfect for long, lazy soaks. This is a place where you can truly unwind, recharge, and reconnect.

Enjoy your morning coffee overlooking the kitchen garden, share a bottle of wine in the secluded courtyard, or eat at the Castle restaurant – 1176, which offers locally sourced produce, with emphasis on the land and water which surrounds the area. Diners can enjoy fresh, seasonal ingredients while supporting local producers. 1176 also boasts stunning views and a wonderful atmosphere.

Cardigan Castle holds a special place in Welsh history-it's thought to be the first stone castle built by a Welshman. In 1176, Lord Rhys ap Gruffydd threw a legendary celebration to mark its completion, inviting poets, musicians and performers from far and wide. That gathering became the first-ever Eisteddfod, which makes this site both unique and very special.

2026 celebrates the 850th anniversary of the first ever Eisteddfod which was held in Cardigan alongside Eisteddfod 2026 being held just a stone's throw away in Llantood. A unique piece of Welsh History

As a guest of Cardigan Castle, you'll enjoy exclusive access to the grounds outside visitor hours, plus complimentary entry to any events happening during your stay.
Just a short stroll from the castle, Cardigan town offers an eclectic mix of independent shops, art galleries, and tempting places to eat-from riverside pizzas and homely cafés to a Michelin-starred restaurant. Don't miss the vibrant arts scene at Theatr Mwldan, or the chance to explore the wild beauty of Cardigan Bay, with its golden beaches, dramatic cliffs, and the breathtaking Ceredigion Coast Path.

Whether you’re planning a peaceful escape or a cultural adventure, Gardener's Cottage is a unique and unforgettable base.
