The bay’s open exposure to the ocean makes it an excellent spot for watersports, and a surf school on the beach runs lessons in surfing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and kite surfing. The coast path leads toward Newquay’s seven bays in one direction and Mawgan Porth in the other, opening up long rambles and shorter loops along the North Cornwall coastline. Music festivals and surf competitions run throughout the year, adding a constant buzz of energy to the beachfront. Salt air and wide-open sand define the character of this spirited corner of Cornwall.
